GPO Gate is a service of the Libraries of the University of California as members of the Federal Depository Library Program. The gateway provides access to the full-text databases made available by the GPO Access service of the Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. This site can be a good alternative to the "Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - GPO Official Site" record found in this EnviroSources category, especially if that site is busy and response time is slow.
To use this site, highlight the title you desire to search from the listing of titles (1 through 50) in the scroll down box. Then type in your search keywords, use the CFR box if you desire to further narrow your search by part or section (e.g. 29 CFR 1910, 40 CFR 262.34, etc.) and submit your search. You can also specify the number of hits to return (from 5 to 500). To bring back all the parts in a particular title or all the sections in a particular part, leave the keyword box empty and narrow the search to that title (e.g. 29 CFR) or that part (e.g. 40 CFR 265). From the displayed search results, click on the desired link to obtain the full text of the regulations. The revision date for each section is listed at the top of the first page of text (e.g. Revised as of July 1, 1997).
Note that searching the CFR at this site may not work properly with Microsoft Internet Explorer or older versions of Netscape Navigator. To download Netscape Navigator version 3.0 at no cost, click on the Netscape Now! button at the bottom of the EnviroSources home page.
