Abstract:

BFI owns or operates, or both, more than 100 industrial waste landfills in the USA and Canada. Each meets or exceeds federal, state and local requirements. A variety of wastes can be accepted at these facilities. All the landfills can accept some combination of the following wastes types: demolition debris, concrete, contaminated soil, asbestos, ash, sludge, liquids, municipal waste, etc.

          The location of the BFI landfill facilities in each US state, Puerto Rico, and Canada, can be found below, in the branch location section. If a city has two or more facilities, the name of the facility is listed along with the city. In addition, each landfill location is accompanied by a series of letters denoting the waste types the facility can accept and the treatment processes the facility can perform. The key for facility capabilities is:
        • C - contaminated soil
        • AB - asbestos
        • A - ash
        • S - Sludge
        • LS - liquids solidification
        • BR - soil bioremediation.
