S-K operates a deep well injection site Plaquemine, Louisiana. The facility can accept hazardous and nonhazardous inorganic wastes for disposal in the on-site deep well. Wastes are pumped directly into the well, without treatment. Waste types accepted at the site include: wastewaters, wastewaters with solvents, heavy metals, acids, and caustics. The following are a few of the waste acceptance criteria: pH below 5, flash point below 140o F, and solvents must have less than 25 % total organic carbon (TOC).
The facility is operating under an approved RCRA Part B Permit and a no-migration petition has been approved for the facility.
For waste streams to be accepted into the facility, the waste must be profiled by the generator, analyzed for required parameters, and formally accepted by the facility.
